About this work

Book of arms consisting of a title page and 368 sheets (foliated), of which 328 sheets contain five drawn coats of arms on both recto and verso (ten coats of arms per sheet). Sheet 329 has only the coats of arms on recto painted: the coats of arms on verso are blank. Sheets 330 to 349 contain blank coats of arms. In total this book contains 3285 Dutch and Flemish family coats of arms, each with the family name under the coat of arms, and 205 blank coats of arms. From sheet 350 to 364 runs a register of family names. The remaining sheets are blank. On the verso of the front flyleaf a sheet is pasted with handwritten text, dated 1832, with a short biography of the family of Gendt and in particular Johan and Gerlach van Gendt, the makers of this book of arms.
