About this work

Woman with a small dog on a leash. According to the accompanying text, she is dressed in a morning toilet consisting of a caraco and a jupon of pink-white striped muslin (a color combination that gives her "an atmosphere of soft freshness and pleasant liveliness"). On the head a natural-colored straw hat, adorned with a garland of artificial roses, a few feathers and a veil of white gauze. A small rose in the bodice's décolleté. Hairstyle with three large curls on either side. On the face a layer of white powder (still something about colors of powder for makeup).
