About this work
Court gown. According to the accompanying text, the woman wears a court gown, consisting of a bodice of pink taffeta and a skirt of apple-green taffeta. Over this a transparent small shoulder cape of tulle, trimmed with ruffled strips. On the high hairstyle with curls on the side a 'pouf' of white gauze, adorned with a large bow, pearls and three feathers 'à la Folette'. Accessories: earrings, long gloves, pink shoes, fan. The print is part of the 20th Cahier from Cabinet des Modes ou les Modes Nouvelles. The series consists of 72 fashion prints, published by Buisson, Paris, 15 November 1785 – 1 November 1786.
