About this work

Caraco à la Cauchoise. According to the accompanying text, the woman is dressed in a purple 'caraco à la Cauchoise' with apple-green collar and lapels, on a matching skirt with a train. Pleated collar and cuffs. Accessories: high hat trimmed with fur and adorned with ribbon, earrings, fichu, fan, shoes. The print is part of the 22nd Cahier from the series Cabinet des Modes ou les Modes Nouvelles. The series consists of 72 fashion prints, published by Buisson, Paris, 15 November 1785 – 1 November 1786.
