Woman in deep mourning. (portant le dueil suivant la première époque). According to the accompanying text, she wears a japon of black taffeta and a skirt of the same fabric. Around the neck a wide fichu with ruffles of white 'gaze d'Italie' and cuffs 'en sabot' of the same gauze. On the head a 'chapeau-bonnette' of white crêpe with a black ribbon and four black feathers. The long hair is held together at the back with a bronze band. Accessories: long gloves, shoes of black taffeta, handkerchief. The print is part of the 18th Cahier from Cabinet des Modes ou les Modes Nouvelles. The series consists of 72 fashion prints, published by Buisson, Paris, 15 November 1785 – 1 November 1786.
