About this work

The Doge of Venice is carried across St. Mark's Square to the Doge's Palace where he will be crowned. One of his four companions carries a banner with a coat of arms, possibly that of Doge Leonardo Donato. The five figures throw coins to the crowd. Some onlookers try to catch the coins while being struck with sticks by others. Four-line Italian text in the lower margin. The print is part of an album.
