About this work

Woman seen from the back, walking to the right, wearing a velvet hat with satin trim. Over the yellow gown, a white shawl with a border of embroidered flowers. Under the gown, the toes of flat shoes with cross-straps are visible (cothurnes). The print is part of the fashion magazine Journal des Dames et des Modes, published by Pierre de la Mésangère, Paris, 1797-1839.
