About this work

The third Bauhaus portfolio is devoted to German artists. Der Sturm – the magazine founded by Herwarth Walden, who had an eponymous gallery – was a source for Feininger's choice of artists. Rudolf Bauer made illustrations for this magazine and taught at Walden's art academy. The lines and the hatchings in the lithograph Bantama make an explosive impression.
