About this work
A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a musket (a specific type of firearm) with his left hand (no. 6), ca. 1600. With his right hand he brings a burning match to his mouth to blow it clean. Plate 6 in the instructions for handling the musket: Corte onderwysinghe op de figuerliicke afbeeldinghe, belanghende t'rechte ghebruyck des Roers.
