About this work

A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a musket (a certain type of firearm) with his left hand at his left thigh and with his right hand inserting his ramrod into the barrel, to push powder and ball in (no. 26), ca. 1600. Plate 26 in the instructions for handling the musket. Part of the illustrations in: J. de Gheyn, Wapenhandelinghe van Roers Musquetten ende spiessen, Amsterdam, 1608. Military affairs around 1600.
