About this work
A soldier, full-length, facing right, carrying a spear (lance) horizontally on his right shoulder (no. 10), ca. 1600. His right hand around the spear. This is the third action for raising the spear to the shoulder and carrying it horizontally. Plate 10 in the instructions for handling the spear: Corte onderwysinghe op de figuerliicke afbeeldinghe belanghende trechte gebruck, van alle t'ghene een Soldaet int handelen vande Spies noodich is.
