About this work
A soldier, full-length, carrying a pike with his left hand at his right side, the point angled upwards (no. 13), ca. 1600. This is the second movement for lowering the pike to pass under an overhang. Plate 13 in the instructions for handling the pike: Corte onderwysinghe op de figuerliicke afbeeldinghe belanghende trechte gebruck, van alle t'ghene een Soldaet int handelen vande Spies noodich is.
