About this work
A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a musket (a specific type of firearm) with his left hand at his left thigh and with his right hand sliding the ramrod into the holder under the barrel (no. 29), ca. 1600. Plate 29 in the instructions for handling the musket: Brief enseignement, sur la representation des figures, du droit maniement de l'Harquebuse.
