A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a musket (a specific type of firearm) with his left hand at his left thigh, the barrel pointing diagonally upwards (no. 23), ca. 1600. In his left hand, besides the musket, he holds a fork (musket fork). With his right hand he opens one of the powder measures on his bandolier. Plate 23 in the instructions for handling the musket: Brief enseignement, sur les pourtraitz figurez, touchant le droit maniement du Mousquet.
