About this work

Relief of Barcelona. Breaking camp and retreat of the French soldiers after the futile siege, 12 May 1706. Depiction in a richly decorated ornamental frame with a cartouche at the top containing a map of the city, crowned with an eagle. At the bottom a cartouche with the description of the struggle in German. On the left the mourning French Maiden on a large fish, on the right a river god. Sheet in the bound collection of plates published under the title: Repraesentatio belli ... Der Spanische Successions-Krieg [ca. 1720].
