About this work
The world is a stage. On a stage under a canopy, wind traders are received by the devil; in the clouds, the gods at a colonnade with the coat of arms of Amsterdam; in the foreground, various personifications. Smaller scenes of the wind trade in different regions and cities on the left and right. Top left: enslaved Africans at the Mississippi Company. Also top right, bottom left, and bottom right: depictions related to slavery. At the bottom, a verse by Philadelphus. Print in the bound fourth edition (304 B 12) of *Het Groote Tafereel der Dwaasheid* with satirical prints on the Wind Trade or Share Trade of 1720.
