About this work
The world is a stage. On a stage under a canopy, wind traders are received by the devil; in the clouds, the gods are at a colonnade with the coat of arms of Amsterdam; in the foreground, various personifications. Smaller scenes of the wind trade in different regions and cities on the left and right. Top left, enslaved Africans at the Mississippi Company. Also top right, bottom left, and bottom right, scenes related to slavery. At the bottom, a verse by Philadelphus. Print in the bound first edition (304 B 11) of Het Groote Tafereel der Dwaasheid with satirical prints on the Wind Trade or Share Trading of 1720.
