Frederick Henry Shows Mercy to the Naked Actionists, 1720

A resurrected Frederick Henry grants mercy to the naked and destitute speculators at the wonder tree by offering them shelter under his cloak. This is an illustration of an old proverb: to be covered by the cloak of Frederick Henry, meaning: to be free from persecution in financial matters. In the center, wind speculators drown in a ditch; on the right, a merry-go-round. Print in the bound fourth edition (304 B 12) of Het Groote Tafereel der Dwaasheid with satirical prints on the Windhandel or Actiehandel of 1720.
