About this work
A resurrected Frederick Henry shows mercy at the wonder tree to the naked and destitute shareholders by sheltering them under his cloak. This is a visualisation of an old proverb: to be covered by the cloak of Frederick Henry, meaning to be free from persecution in financial matters. In the centre, wind traders drown in a ditch; on the right, a windmill. Print in the bound first edition (304 B 11) of Het Groote Tafereel der Dwaasheid with satirical prints on the Windhandel or Actiehandel of 1720.
