About this work
Allegory on the edict of 16 October 1787, legislation aimed against Catholic seminaries in the country. The Austrian eagle attempts to escape laden with symbols of the Catholic churches and seminaries but is held back by the Brabant lion. On the ground lies a statue of Faith and fragments of a church. Numbered bottom right: N3. Part of the bound collection of prints relating to the events of the Brabant Revolution and the period 1787–1790.
