About this work
Satirical print on the Committee for Foreign Affairs, 1795. Members of the committee can only see with the help of various optical instruments. On the left, someone peers through a spyglass at the possible arrival of the army of Frederick, Prince of Orange. The central figure is presented with spectacles by the French general Pichegru. On the right, a man with shriveled legs (Jacob Hahn) looks through a telescope.
