About this work

A town crier announcing the death of someone to a housewife in the doorway of a wine shop. On the hanging sign: Vry Wyn. First installment of four plates, published in 1803. Part of a bound edition of the series of twenty plates of Dutch costumes in the Batavian Republic at the beginning of the nineteenth century by Maaskamp, ca. 1807.
