About this work
Albe strip of natural-coloured needle lace, point de France. A repeating pattern of two alternating compositions on axes of symmetry with flower vases, flower baskets, baldachins and volute scrolls. The motifs are connected by a hexagonal mesh ground with picots. The solid work is made with buttonhole stitch with cut-outs, some motifs are filled with a filler ground. The scalloped lower edge results from the pattern. The upper side is edged with a border of bobbin lace. The ends of the strip are sewn together.
