Ell strip of bobbin lace with feathered leaves and pineapples

Alabaster strip of natural-colored Brabant bobbin lace. The repeating pattern is asymmetrical and closed; the motifs are connected by picoted braids. Here and there the braids run behind the motifs. The pattern consists of two different standing bands formed by wavy feathered leaves, originating from stretched pineapples. Between the bands are smaller scattered star, palm, and cup-shaped flowers set among finely cut leaves. From above, these appear as if poured out from a cup-shaped double leaf or a drinking horn, which also appears as a motif at the bottom of the strip. Full work in linen stitch and net stitch, with bobbin-relief contours, so-called ribs. Filling of motifs with ornamental ground. The upper side is finished with a bobbin edge. The lower edge with shallow and uneven scallops, derived from the pattern. The ends of the strip are sewn together.
