About this work
Strip of Brussels bobbin lace with a dense pattern of flowers, feather-like leaves and bizarre ornaments, derived from the patterns of silk fabrics from the same period. A narrower strip is sewn onto a wide strip, which suggests that the object was originally intended as a decorative strip with a ruffle for a dressing table cloth.
