Two sewn-together chin flaps of needle lace

Cap flaps of natural-colored needle lace: Brussels net lace. It is made with a very fine flax thread. The relief-less lace makes a heavy and rich impression by its attached ornament, which almost overgrows the mesh ground by stacking and wavy. On a delicate hexagonal mesh ground the opaque ornament stands out strongly, which is only symmetrical at the ends and consists of bending curling leaves and a single flower branch, which have a closed picot edge and a dense filling of festoon stitches with numerous cutouts. Within that filling are again smaller leaves of more open decorative stitches in endless variations.
