About this work
Wall covering of wine-red Utrecht velvet, i.e., a tripp with a goat's hair warp and blue linen weft, with an embossed pattern. The design features along the selvages half-spindle ovals with scalloped contours and asymmetrical small flowers and fruits. In the central band, large bouquets of flowers are arranged asymmetrically, consisting of short broken S-shaped stems with drooping compound flowers and two upright ones, and a branch with a pomegranate, two small rosette flowers, and two fruit clusters. The wall covering consists of 6 wall panels of 16 full strips and 8 fragmentary ones, totaling 1340 cm.
