About this work
Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. Under a broad band with a scattered pattern of open flowers the pattern along the lower edge is formed by closely hanging daisies, on slightly curved stems with three feather-shaped leaves. The regularly wavy scalloped edge follows the pattern, with one flower in each scallop. The motifs are connected by a fine mesh ground, the Mechelen ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch and is provided with thicker and shiny contour threads. A sparingly used decorative ground with coarser mesh is used in the flower hearts, with a small rectangle in the center.
