About this work
Armchair, part of a set, made of white beechwood painted with gold and upholstered on a loose frame with tapestry, which displays bouquets, tied together with ribbons and bows, on a red damask ground. The front legs, front seat rail, top rail, and stiles of the back frame carry carved leaf and flower motifs. The armrests with cushions end in volutes; the S-shaped legs placed diagonally end in an acanthus leaf. Signed: I. Gourdin. See: BK-16655-a/b,d,e,f,g.
