About this work
Two rearing horses facing each other bite each other on the neck and clash their forelegs; the left one is saddled and carries a rider wrapped in a cloak, who turns away in terror with outstretched arms from the rearing horse opposite him. Below the horses, a warrior in military uniform lies fallen on the ground to the right, with a shield on his left arm.
