About this work
Two riders galloping to the left. The foremost horse is saddled; the rider seated on it, dressed in pseudo-Roman costume with a flowing cloak, holds a lance in his left hand above a soldier in similar uniform and with a shield who has fallen to the ground on the left. Further in the background, a running soldier in breeches with an exposed upper body looks back; he carries a shield and points forward with his left hand. Next to him is the second galloping horse with a rider in a flowing cloak and shield.
