About this work
On a rectangular plinth sits the griffin, formed from an elongated dog body with wings protruding from the shoulders and an eagle's head with a comb on the neck; the front of the neck is covered with tufts of hair. An iron rod is attached in the lower jaw, to which perhaps an object (lamp?) was meant to hang.
