About this work
Brisé fan of wood, with a Chinese scene on both sides, a two-color gold lacquer cartouche on a black background. The fan has 24 connected ribs held together by a purple satin ribbon. The three small cartouches along the top edge and the large central cartouche contain Chinese figures at pavilions. The compartments are framed by a band with feathers or spiral shapes. The fan background consists of a brown-black grain with large red-gold flowers. The difference between the front and back of the fan is only a detail: a round or square table. The fan ring is metal.
