Inkstand base

Inkstand base with two silver lids for the barrel-shaped jars. The rectangular sheet with rounded corners rests on four cast, bulbous, ribbed feet. The wall is composed of a straight, ribbed band and a smooth arched section, along the top of which runs a cable border. On the raised central part of the sheet are three cylindrical, low holders with profiled upper and lower rims. Three barrel-shaped jars of colorless glass, decorated with a cut diamond pattern, fit into these. The middle jar has a fixed silver lid, into which a pattern has been sawn of a stylized flower surrounded by stars. On the neck of the other two is mounted a smooth silver ring, upon which a silver lid fits. This has a straight wall with a profiled rim at the bottom and a cable border at the top, and a slightly arched upper side. The middle jar is intended for sand; the other two for ink. The three holders are fixed to the underside of the sheet by a long pin.
