About this work
Neck cushion with an attached strip, both of natural-colored bobbin lace: probably Buckingham lace. The pattern consists of two wedge-shaped rivers formed by a winding stem, leaf, rosette buds, with meshwork in the spared bubble-shaped cartouches. Scattering motif of leaves, rosettes, and a coarse branch with berries or round leaves. The lace resembles Brussels bobbin lace, but with a coarse drochel ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch with sparingly used relief contours. As a decorative ground a coarser lattice ground is applied, decorated with picots and form shapes.
