About this work

Bed sheet with an insert of natural-colored bobbin lace, Flemish lace. The sheet consists of two widths of linen sewn together across the width. The repeating pattern consists of a lobed flower between S-vines. The motifs are made in linen stitch and connected by a lattice ground, a five-hole ground. Furthermore, the sheet is marked in white with the letters NW and bears an embroidered date 1694.
