Border of bobbin lace with flower and shell border with circles

Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace, Valenciennes lace. The repeating pattern consists of a one-sided curved flower stem with one flower attached to it, which hangs down in the middle of a shell. Along the shell edge runs a decorative band of linked circles, with in each openwork centre a snowflake. The successive flower stems always originate at the highest circle in the decorative band. The motifs are connected by a mesh ground, a diamond-shaped Valenciennes ground, scattered with dots. The motifs are made in linen stitch with cutouts and openwork edges. Overlapping pairs decorate, among others, the cutouts in the flower petals. The top of the strip is finished straight. The shells along the bottom are finished with picots.
