Linen damask napkin with the history of Susanna. Central field: the symmetrical doubled pattern shows four scenes from bottom to top: 1 The Judgment of Daniel (halved). 2 Stoning of the Elders. A soldier standing on the outside throws stones at the elder tied to a post. 3 Susanna in the Garden, spied upon by the two Elders. In the center stands Susanna, half-naked, with her feet in a basin, above which is a dome with the text SUSANA. To the left and right an open gallery with railings, on which a peacock is perched. The elders grasp her by an arm. 4 False Testimony of the Elders. Before a court, in the center, stands Susanna with uncovered head, a ruff around the neck, puffed sleeves, and a wide farthingale skirt. The two elders, one the mirror image of the other, lay a hand on her head. Standing borders: single vine with flowers and birds.
