About this work

Lid of a porcelain tureen, painted on the glaze in blue, red, green, yellow, brown, purple, and gold. Decorated with sculpted medallions, each containing a different Chinese scene (chinoiserie), surrounded by floral sprigs. Around the knob a decorative band, and on the rim with scrollwork, diamond patterns, and shell motifs (laub- und bandelwerk). Knob in the shape of a flower bud.
