Fragment of a rochet strip of bobbin lace with two triangular compositions

Fragment of a strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: old Brabantine lace. The original pattern has two alternating and more or less triangular compositions with large motifs, which are partly connected by a plait ground with picots and partly by a lattice ground. One of the compositions is visible here and concerns the symmetrical composition with centrally a large flower, or fruit in a bowl, surrounded by rosette flowers and four pointed ovals. The motifs are made in loose worked linen stitch with cut-out edges and with very sparingly occurring relief contour lines. As decorative ground a five-hole ground is used. The top side is finished with a bobbinnet edge. The shell edge at the bottom side originates from the pattern.
