Strip of bobbin lace with linked cartouches

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace, Buckingham lace. The repeating pattern consists of linked asymmetrical cartouches, alternating a smaller one crowned by a rosette flower and a larger one crowned by a triangle made of seven small circles. The motifs are connected at the top by a mesh ground, a net ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch and provided with thick and shiny contour threads. The heart of the rosette flower is cut out. As an ornamental ground a rose ground is applied in the cartouches, whereby snowflakes are also incorporated in the small cartouche, these are not provided with contour threads. The top side of the strip is finished straight. The shell edge along the bottom side follows the bottom side of the cartouches and is finished with picots.
