About this work
Square porcelain bottle, painted on the glaze in blue, red, green, yellow, brown, black, and gold. On each side two birds (e.g., crane) on or near a flowering tree by a rock, of which on three sides one of the 'three friends of winter' (pine, bamboo, prunus) and on the fourth a chrysanthemum. On the shoulder floral scrolls with a bird. Old label on the underside with 'Collectie Westendorp/ 139'. Inscription on the base with 'a'. Some cracks in the wall; the neck is cut off. Arita, Kakiemon.
