Strip bobbin lace with symmetrical composition with butterfly-shaped motif in center and surrounded by eyelet loops

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace, Eastern European lace. The repeating pattern consists of a more or less symmetrical composition where the contours of the motifs are made with twisting ribbons, which vary minimally in width. The composition consists in the center of a butterfly-shaped motif with a kind of canopy above it to which the same curling motifs hang down on both sides. The motifs are connected to each other by a loop pattern like occhiolini. The ribbons are partly made in net stitch and largely in linen stitch with openwork edges. The top side of the strip is finished straight. A continuous and twisting ribbon provides a scalloped edge along the underside of the strip.
