Handle of a Parasol or Umbrella of Bamboo with Smooth Knob and Knotty Wooden Ball

Bamboo umbrella or parasol shaft with a smooth knob and a knotted wooden ball. The C-shaped handle is attached to the neck and shoulder. Several profiles and incised lines on the neck and foot. Partially covered with cobalt blue. On the belly, impressed and applied medallions in relief. The medallion is divided into four by a cross, with alternating dots or stripes in each compartment. Attached to the handle is a richly decorated silver mount with six bosses on the lid with fruit branches and ornaments. The finials are in the form of a Roman soldier. On the foot, a silver band with leafy vines. The mount is of a later date. Westerwald.
