About this work

Walking stick of varnished wood decorated with a flat copper knob and metal rim, fitted with a rolled map. Model: straight and tapering. Divided into three parts connected by a sliding joint and head nails. In the middle part a 26 cm long vertical slot 5 mm wide, in which the fabric map is rolled. The metal tip at the bottom of the stick is missing. Decoration: a printed and glazed piece of cotton with multicolored patterns on both sides is rolled into the slot with a spring. On one side the map of the "Exposition Universelle de 1889" is printed, and on the other that of the city of Paris. At the bottom of the maps the address: G. Dreyfus, 32 Rue de Paradis, Paris. Mark: Déposée Canne Plan. G.D.
