About this work

Edge strip (part) of natural-coloured bobbin lace: Milanese lace or Old Flemish lace with plaited ground. Pattern with large curling vines with feathered leaves and palmette flowers. The motifs are connected by a plaited ground, with long picoted plaits. The outline of the flowers and leaves is worked in linen stitch with cutouts and within these contours various decorative grounds are applied. The top edge of the strip is finished straight, the underside follows the lines of the pattern.
