About this work

The trumpet-shaped cup rests on three shell-bearing lion cubs. At half height of the cup and on the lower edge, a cable is applied. Above the latter is a double profiled border with a dentil between them. The lower half is engraved with strapwork containing three portrait medallions, and with draperies, fruits, birds and snails. Below the upper edge is the inscription DRINCT.BY.MATEN.HET.SAL.V.BATEN. 1585, engraved.
