About this work
Prayer rug, so-called KUMURCU-KULA, i.e. STEENKOLENKULA. Central field: double mihrab in dark terracotta to purple-brown has a vase motif in each of the stepped gable tops and symmetrically placed small flowers in light blue and red in the center. In each of the navy blue spandrels stands a light blue rosette. Borders: triple. The middle one is ochre-yellow with angular vines in dark terracotta with alternately a triple flower in terra; the outer border is cobalt blue with angular vines.
