About this work

Prayer carpet, Kurdistan. Central field: indistinctly separated stone-red mihrab with a three-stepped gable and white pendants. At the bottom, the niche is indicated by such pendants, as cornerstones, also in white. Border: multiple. The main border is petrol blue with a coarse S-vine with flowers in striped brown/white, blue/white, brown/green, etc. The inner and outer selvages are identical, namely of pale yellow, also with a floral vine. All three are accompanied by borders, including a block band.
