About this work

Modesty with white embroidery and strips and inserts of Valenciennes lace, between and under which are two pieces of plumetis with needle lace stitches. The upper central piece has a pattern of a hanging palmette with feathered leaves, and the lower piece consists of a hanging calyx flower. Both pieces have been made into a triangular modesty. The whole is mounted on machine-made tulle and shantung. The border is slightly scalloped and provided with picots.
